  • Plunger

  • Firstly you will need a good quality plunger, do not use cheap one.

While you press cling wrap downwards it increases the atmospheric pressure and when you pull up the cling wrap, it creates the suction force, please note that this method will not work on “heavy blockage”.

  • Rubber gloves
  • Cling wrap


  • Wear rubber gloves and cover the toilet bowl with cling wrap about 6 to 7 times, make sure there is no air leakage.
  • Now flush the toilet one time then you will see that cling wrap will start to bulge.

Combination of baking soda and vinegar are best and simple way to unclog the toilet, when you mix baking soda and vinegar together it creates a chemical reaction that helps to dissolve the clog, please note that this method will not work on “heavy blockage”.

  • Baking soda

  • Pour one cup of baking soda into the toilet and then add slowly two cup of vinegar.
  • It creates the fizz and leaves it like that for 20 minutes.
  • After 20 minute you will see water level is going down.

Keep one thing in mind that while using chemical drain cleaner don’t use any other products such as bleach, soda, vinegar etc. Please note that this method will not work on “heavy blockage”.

  • Chemical drain cleaner

  • Firstly for protection wear goggles and rubber gloves.
  • Now pour 3 cup of chemical drain cleaner into the toilet and leave it for 5 to 6 hours.
  • Once water gets down, flush the toilet.

Unclog Toilet By Using Toilet Cleaning Bombs

Toilet cleaning bombs are also a good option if the blockage is organic and please note that this method will not work on “heavy blockage”.

What you’ll need:

  • Baking soda
  • Citric acid
  • Dish liquid soap
  • Epsom salt
  • Silicone ice cube tray
  • Airtight container
  • Mixing bowl
  • Hot water


  • Take a mixing bowl and add 1 cup of baking soda, citric acid and Epsom salt and mix well.
  • Now add 1 tablespoon of dish liquid soap and mix well.
  • Then put this mixture in silicone ice cube tray and tap well.
  • Place the tray in a warm and dry place for 7 to 8 hours or overnight.
  • Once the cleaning bombs gets dry remove it from the tray and store in airtight container.
  • Now toilet cleaning bombs are ready to use.
  • Put 2 cleaning bombs into toilet and immediately pour 1 gallon of hot water into the toilet and close the toilet seat and let it rest for 5 to 6 hours.
  • Then flush the toilet.

How To Prevent Toilet From Clogging

Clogging in toilet is very common problem faced by many and mostly people are not comfortable to do plumbing task and calling plumber can be expensive so it is better to prevent than cure, here are few tips for you how you can prevent your toilet from clogging.

  • Don’t flush facial tissues, cotton swabs, diapers, sanitary products, hair, dental floss and so on.
